چکیده

Explicit compact expressions were obtained for the far displacement field of Rayleigh and Love waves generated by force configurations which served to simulate sheartype faults with arbitrary dip and slip. The medium transfer functions for dipolar sources were computed for a Gutenberg fiat continental earth model with 23 layers. These were then used to obtain universal radiation pattern charts for coupleand double-couple-type sources at various depths over the period range 50 to 350 sec. It was demonstrated by means of few typical examples that the radiation patterns of Rayleigh waves may depend strongly on the depth of the source, and unlike the fundamental Love mode may be rather sensitive to small variations in frequency. For a given source and frequency the radiation pattern may differ considerably from one mode to another.

Application of 3D-Seismic Data in Detecting Buried Karsts in Asmari Formation: An Example from Kupal Oil Field, Southwest Iran

Detecting karstification processes in hydrocarbon carbonate reservoirs is important because of their porosity, permeability and also the risk associated with their drilling. A very useful technique to locate buried karsts is 3D seismic. In this research, seismic frequency decomposition (spectral decomposition) and seismic inversion techniques used to identify these sub-surface diagenetic featur...

Source Effects on Surface Wavefields

We derive displacement equations for Rayleigh and Love waves in simple structural models for point sources in order to better understand source effects on their wavefields and radiation patterns. In doing so, we analytically demonstrate the existence of surface waves in these Earth models. Rayleigh and Love wave radiation patterns are found to mimic the P and SH radiation patterns, respectively...

Radiation from Directional Seismic Sources in Laterally Stratified Media with Application to Arctic Ice Cracking Noise

The formation of cracks in elastic media such as sea ice generates elastic waves in a radiation pattern being dependent on the actual fracture process and the stratification of the medium. In the case of horizontal stratification, this phenomenon can be idealized and mathematically modeled describing the directionality of the acoustic emission produced by compact cracks in such an environment. ...

Seismo-acoustic signatures from near surface phenomena

Among numerous sources emitting pressure waves a few are known to generate acoustic signals both in the earth, as seismic waves, and in the atmosphere, as infrasound, which were recorded over large distances. Those sources are near surface phenomena like volcanic eruptions, explosions, and ocean waves, which all occur at the boundary between the solid earth and the atmosphere, either shallow ab...

کاربرد تصاویر ماهواره‌ای و GIS در امکان سنجی استفاده از انرژی خورشیدی برای تأمین سامانه‌های روشنایی (منطقه‌ی موردی: بزرگراه زنجان – تبریز)

Introduction The human need for energy is continually increasing and the limited sources of fossil energy are reducing. The indiscriminate use of fossil fuels pollute the environment and threaten life on the earth. Besides, because of difficult terrain, unfavourable topographical conditions and inaccessibility of some mountainous roads to national electricity network or high costs of these s...
